What the Bambu Lab P2S does

The Bambu Lab P2S is an enclosed 3D printer built to deliver faster, more controlled printing across everyday materials, engineering-grade filaments, and fibre-reinforced blends. Its platform combines active flow calibration, AI-based failure detection, chamber airflow control, and an upgraded touchscreen interface to improve print consistency and day-to-day usability.

Main features of the Bambu Lab P2S

  • 5-inch touch screen
  • AI failure detection
  • Auto flow dynamics calibration
  • Multi-colour printing
  • Cold-air cooling
  • Active venting filament drying
  • 256 × 256 × 256 mm³ print volume

Bambu Lab P2S highlights

5-inch touchscreen with second-generation user interface

The P2S is designed to feel more like using a modern smart device than a typical printer control panel. A fully upgraded touchscreen, a more powerful processor, and Bambu Lab’s second-generation UI deliver smoother interaction, richer graphics, and clearer step-by-step guidance during setup and operation.

Higher extrusion force with real-time clog and grinding detection

The P2S uses a PMSM servo extruder with up to 8.5 kg of maximum extrusion force, which Bambu Lab states is 70% more than its predecessor. That added force is intended to improve high-flow-rate extrusion stability while the proprietary servo architecture samples resistance and position at 20 kHz to detect filament grinding and clogs in real time.

PMSM Servo Architecture | DynaSense Extruder

Automatic flow compensation for smoother corners and layers

The printer uses a high-resolution, high-frequency eddy current sensor to calibrate flow dynamics. Intelligent algorithms then adjust flow rate based on those readings to maintain more precise and consistent extrusion through layers, corners, and directional changes.

Active Flowrate Compensation | Eddy Current Pressure Sensor

Adaptive Airflow System for overhang quality with low-temperature filaments

The Adaptive Airflow System improves cooling by drawing cool air directly from outside the chamber instead of recirculating hot internal air. This approach is intended to improve cooling efficiency so lower-temperature filaments can be printed with the door closed while reducing concerns about overhang quality or nozzle clogs.

Cold-Air Intake | Cooling Mode

50°C chamber support for engineering-grade materials

The same airflow system also supports enclosed high-temperature printing. A flap-controlled design helps seal heat inside the chamber, while a high-performance carbon filter actively filters internal air to support cleaner and safer workspace air quality when printing demanding engineering filaments that are prone to warping.

AI computer vision for print monitoring and safer starts

The P2S adds AI computer vision to detect common print issues, including spaghetti and nozzle blobbing, and to verify print-start conditions before a job begins. This monitoring system is designed to improve reliability and reduce the chance of wasting time and material on failed prints.

Quick-swap hotend for faster nozzle changes

The hotend uses a one-clip quick-swap design that releases the entire nozzle and heatsink assembly without disconnecting wiring. This reduces nozzle replacement time to about 30 seconds and lowers the risk of wiring mistakes during maintenance.

Live remote monitoring and high-quality timelapse capture

Enhanced LED lighting improves the clarity of live video and timelapse footage. Combined with a 1080P high-rate camera and dual-band Wi-Fi, the P2S supports clearer remote monitoring and better-looking timelapses for documentation, troubleshooting, or content creation.

"Stage" Lighting | 1080P High-Rate Camera

Hardened extrusion path for fibre-reinforced materials

The extrusion system and nozzle are made from hardened steel for improved wear resistance. This construction is intended for stable long-term printing with high-performance fibre-reinforced materials that are more abrasive than standard filaments.

AMS 2 Pro for multi-colour printing and filament drying

When paired with the AMS 2 Pro, the P2S supports Bambu Lab’s multi-colour workflow and integrated filament drying in one unit. The AMS 2 Pro introduces active venting drying, which Bambu Lab states is 30% faster than sealed heating, while maintaining lower humidity for better storage conditions and print quality.

Auto Venting Filament Drying | Multi-Color Printing

Electromagnetic air vent for drying and sealed storage

An automated venting system supports dehumidification during filament drying and then switches to airtight sealing for extended storage. This helps preserve filament condition over weeks of printing.

Faster multi-colour filament feeding

The AMS 2 Pro uses a PMSM feeding motor that accelerates filament feeding by 60%. Bambu Lab states this saves an average of 10 minutes for every 100 filament changes during multi-colour jobs.

Integrated software and model ecosystem

MakerWorld print-ready model access

MakerWorld gives P2S users access to over a million models with integrated print profiles. The platform is designed to reduce setup work by providing ready-to-use slicing and material settings matched to the specific printer and filament combination.

MakerLab AI-assisted 3D modelling tools

MakerLab adds browser-based creation tools for users who want to customise or generate projects without traditional CAD experience. Examples described for the platform include personalised lightboxes, relief sculptures from photos, PrintMon figurines from prompts, bookmarks, and desk organisers.

Maker's Supply hardware sourcing for printed projects

Maker's Supply provides the non-printed hardware needed for compatible projects, including items such as motors, LEDs, bolts, and magnets. Each pre-tested kit is intended to match the bill of materials for selected MakerWorld designs.

Refinements that improve daily use

The P2S includes a range of smaller design details aimed at making operation, cleaning, transport, and general ownership easier. These changes are incremental, but they contribute to the overall user experience.

Built-in 2-in-1 Buffer (equipped with AMS combo)
The built-in 2-in-1 buffer allows switching between AMS-fed filament and external spools for greater material-handling flexibility.

Flat Base Plate
The flat base plate creates a smooth surface that is easier to wipe clean, helping remove residue and keep the printer interior tidier.

Integrated Lift Handles
Integrated handles are designed to improve grip and hand protection when moving the printer, making transport safer and easier.

Shatter-Safe Front Glass
The front glass includes a protective film engineered to resist shattering, adding a safety-focused detail for the printer and surrounding workspace.

Use cases for the Bambu Lab P2S

  • Functional prototyping: Active flow compensation and extrusion monitoring help support cleaner dimensional results on parts with corners, transitions, and varying wall geometry.
  • Engineering materials: The enclosed design, heat-preserving airflow system, and filtered chamber support filaments that benefit from higher chamber temperatures and more stable thermal control.
  • Abrasive filament work: Hardened steel nozzle and extruder components are suited to fibre-reinforced materials used for stronger or more wear-resistant printed parts.
  • Multi-colour display prints: AMS 2 Pro support adds automated filament switching and faster feeding for more efficient multi-colour jobs.
  • Remote monitoring and content creation: The 1080P camera, lighting, and dual-band Wi-Fi support live monitoring, troubleshooting, and timelapse recording.
  • Education and guided use: The larger touchscreen and clearer second-generation interface provide more direct step-by-step guidance during setup and printing.
