E3D V6 All-Metal HotEnd 1.75mm 24V Full Kit - Direct Drive
What the E3D V6 All-Metal HotEnd does
The E3D V6 All-Metal HotEnd is an official 1.75mm, 24V direct drive full kit designed to give reliable high-performance extrusion across a very wide range of 3D printing materials. Its all-metal construction supports high-temperature printing while also improving performance with soft and flexible filaments.
The V6 uses a cartridge-style heater block that makes replacing heater cartridges and temperature sensors straightforward. Replacement thermistors, PT100s, and thermocouples slide into place and are secured with a grub screw, making routine maintenance simple and painless.
Key features of the E3D V6 all-metal hotend
- Genuine E3D parts: Official E3D components built around the company’s market-leading hotend design.
- All-metal construction: British-engineered design for reliable high-temperature performance.
- Wide material support: Prints a broad range of filaments with less stringing and clogging.
- Cartridge-style heater block: Heater cartridges and temperature sensors are easier to install, remove, and replace.
- Compact form factor: Overall length is just 62mm, with low bulk in the X and Y dimensions.
- Customisable platform: Works within the E3D ecosystem of blocks, nozzles, and upgrade components.
High-temperature 3D printing performance
The supplied thermistor allows the V6 to comfortably reach 285°C. When paired with a PT100 or a thermocouple, the hotend can reach over 400°C, although a thermocouple setup may require additional electronics.
This temperature capability makes the V6 suitable for extremely high-temperature materials such as Polycarbonate and Nylons. The all-metal design also removes hotend meltdown failures associated with PEEK/PTFE designs.
The PTFE filament guide inside the E3D V6 HotEnd is never exposed to high temperatures, so there is no risk of damage through overheating.
Easier maintenance and cleaner sensor installation
The thermistor cartridge slides into place and is secured with a single screw. E3D also uses high-temperature glass sleeving to insulate the thermistor legs, helping create a cleaner and more robust installation.
Compared with older methods that rely on taping, this approach makes thermistor installation and removal quicker and easier to manage during maintenance or upgrades.
How the E3D V6 improves print quality
A sharp thermal break gives better control over filament output. That improved control provides more immediate starts and stops during extrusion and makes retraction more effective at combating ooze.
The result is sharper, more accurate prints with less stringing, oozing, and blobbing. For users trying to improve surface quality or reduce extrusion artefacts, the V6 focuses on stable thermal behaviour and cleaner material flow.
Use cases for direct drive 1.75mm hotend upgrades
This direct drive E3D V6 kit is well suited to users who want to expand beyond basic materials and print flexible, engineering, or higher-temperature filaments more reliably. The compact 62mm design also helps when keeping carriage size and toolhead bulk under control matters.
The V6 is also a strong fit for makers and printer builders who want a customisable platform. As a fully integrated part of the E3D ecosystem, the hotend can be adapted with different nozzles, blocks, filament configurations, and upgrade paths for ultra-high-temperature printing.
