Polyamide more commonly known as Nylon filament is an incredibly strong 3D printing filament because it has a very high interlayer adhesion. It is durable, less brittle and low friction 3D printing material which is resistant to UV light and chemicals.
Nylon prints as natural white but it can absorb color after printing with commonly available acid based clothing dyes. Because nylon lends itself readily to other materials, it is most suitable for manufacturing hinges and other functional parts.
Polyamide prints are constructed from white granular powder instead of plastic filaments. It comes in a variety of colors and finishes such as dyed, spray painted, smooth and given a velvet finish as well. It melts at a temperature of 170C. It is a great printing filament for both experienced professionals and beginners because it prints to a high precision but at the same time has a low cost.
Since Polyamide tends to absorb moisture relatively quicker than other 3D printing filaments, it is therefore recommended to use desiccant dehumidifiers to absorb the moisture.
