PLA is an abbreviation for Polylactic Acid which is created from processing plants such as beetroot, potatoes and corn- starch. This is an environmentally friendly 3D printing filament since it is completely bio-degradable.
PLA is thermoplastic which means that it turns soft when heated and can be molded. It naturally occurs as transparent but can be colored to various degrees of opacity. It is recommended to store PLA filaments in a cool dry place as moisture tends to cause discolouration.
PLA is perfect for display objects and general household printing.
PLA will print well on all 3D Printers regardless if your printer has a heated bed or not.
Some may find the smell of PLA sweet as compared to the strong unpleasant smell of ABS filament. It has a glossy finish.
This PLA changes colours when the printed objects are exposed to sunlight or UV Light. 3D printing with this type of filament is no different than using standard PLA. "
