3D Printer Build Plates & Sheets

The build plate is the surface where a 3D print begins, making it one of the most important components for reliable first-layer adhesion and successful prints. Different build plates and surface sheets can also change the appearance of the finished print and how easily parts are removed after printing.

Textured plates provide a patterned finish and can offer strong adhesion for many materials. They can also help hide minor first-layer imperfections.

Flexible Build Plates

Flexible or spring-steel build plates can make part removal easier. Instead of prying a completed print directly from a rigid surface, the plate can be removed from the printer and flexed to help release the finished part.

Magnetic flexible plates are particularly common on modern desktop FFF/FDM printers.
