Polycarbonate is known to be a highly temperature resistant 3D printing filament and is the strongest one known. It can be bent and shaped while cold, and it would not break or deform. It does not crack or shatter like Acrylic or Plexiglass. It is able to withstand temperatures over 100C. For this reason, it becomes an ideal choice for projects that require engineering or lighting.
The natural color option of Polycarbonate has the extremely high optical clarity to visible light. You can sand it or coat it with lacquer spray for transparency.
It has a greater mechanical strength as compared to most 3D filaments including PLA and ABS.
It is a great option if you are looking for consistent quality and well-bonded printing results. It is recommended to use PC filaments in fully enclosed printers to avoid warping.
Polycarbonate filaments tend to absorb moisture so they should be kept dry.
