Wireless marker-free 3D scanning with tracking and handheld modes

EinScan Trak is a wireless, dual-form, marker-free tracking system for professional 3D digitisation. It combines tracking mode and handheld scanner mode in one portable setup, supporting reverse engineering, cultural heritage preservation, automotive customisation, large-object digitisation, product design, inspection, and research workflows.

Flexible scanning workflows for different object sizes

The EinScan Trak system supports seamless switching between tracking mode and handheld scanner mode, with real-time adjustment during scanning and cross-mode resolution merging. The handheld scanner can be detached from the spherical frame and used independently without recalibration, which adds flexibility for narrow areas and small-to-medium objects.

  • Tracking mode supports marker-free scanning within the tracking volume.
  • Handheld scanner mode supports smooth marker-free scanning on feature-rich surfaces.
  • One-click startup and easy calibration support a streamlined workflow.

Laser scanning features for detailed capture

EinScan Trak uses 19 + 19 crossed laser lines for high-speed scanning, 7 parallel laser lines for detailed capture, and a single laser line for deeper areas and fine details. The system is designed to scan black and reflective surfaces, including car rims, and supports outdoor and indoor use, including strong outdoor light up to 110,000 lux.

True-colour texture capture and software support

The built-in 5MP texture camera captures object colours and material details. EXScan Trak is the scanning software for the EinScan Trak Series, and compatible software includes EXMeasure for 3D Measurement, Polyworks, Geomagic Control X, EXModel for Reverse Engineering, BlueStar Mapping for Texture Mapping, and Geomagic Design X.

Use cases for 3D scanning and measurement

  • Reverse engineering: Capture scan data for CAD modelling workflows and dimensional analysis.
  • Heritage and art: Record geometry and colour details for preservation, restoration, research, and digital exhibition.
  • Automotive and industrial work: Digitise large components, custom parts, fixtures, prototypes, and complex surfaces.
  • Education and scientific research: Support 3D data capture, measurement, and analysis in classroom and laboratory settings.

FAQ

Frequently asked

What is EinScan Trak?

EinScan Trak is a wireless, dual-form, marker-free tracking system for portable professional 3D digitisation. It supports tracking mode and handheld scanner mode.

What makes EinScan Trak unique?

EinScan Trak addresses common handheld scanner limitations such as restricted scanning range, marker dependence, and reliance on surface features for continuous alignment. It scans smoothly within the tracking volume without markers or surface features.

Can EinScan Trak scan large objects?

Yes. EinScan Trak provides a tracking volume of up to 15 m³ and covers vehicle-sized objects. For larger objects, the tracker can be repositioned to extend the scanning area through a tran-station workflow.

Can EinScan Trak scan small objects?

Yes. The seven parallel laser lines provide a point distance of up to 0.05 mm and can clearly capture objects approximately 5 cm in size.

Is EinScan Trak wireless?

Yes. EinScan Trak supports fully wireless operation through a dedicated router and independent LAN connection. Both devices are battery-powered during operation.

How long does the battery last?

EinScan Trak provides up to 5.5 hours of battery life and supports hot-swapping individual batteries.

Can the handheld scanner be used independently?

Yes. The handheld scanner can be detached from the spherical frame and used independently without recalibration.

Do I still need markers when scanning?

Both Tracking Mode and Scanner Mode support marker-free laser scanning. Markers may help with large multi-pass scans or with small objects and objects with few geometric features in Scanner Mode.

Which file formats does EinScan Trak support?

EinScan Trak supports STL, OBJ, PLY, 3MF, and ASC file formats.

What is EXMeasure?

EXMeasure is measurement software for dimensional measurement, coordinate-system alignment, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing analysis, and visual inspection reports. A one-year EXMeasure licence is included with every EinScan Trak purchase.
